Parish Nursing Code: LT-6670 Programs sponsored by the faith community that provide public health nursing services within a spiritual framework. Parish nurses are licensed registered nurses who promote wellness by addressing the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of individuals and families through a combination of professional nursing and spiritual caregiving. Services may include home, hospital and nursing home visits to discuss health issues and problems; health education and wellness programs; health screenings; counseling and advocacy; coordination of congregational volunteers; referrals for medical care, social and community services; participation in prayer, reading of the scriptures and other activities that help people integrate faith and healing; and linkage with other congregational resources, as needed.
